Greenspaces

Kingsland is home to six beautiful greenspaces, many of which have been enhanced by community art projects over the years. For our residents with canine companions, Kingsland also has an off-leash dog area.

Loomis Park

804 68 Ave SW

This park boasts treed grass play areas, picnic space, and a recently updated playground (September 2016) with gravel surfacing. Slides, climbing apparatuses, monkey bars, swings, and more can all be enjoyed at Loomis Park.

7th Street Park

7312 7 St SW

Grassy space to play - multiple swing sets and slides make this little park worth a visit!

In 2024, 7 Street park will be receiving an upgrade! Specific timeline is not yet confirmed, but click here to see the new design.

Kingsland School Greenspace

7430 5 St SW

This old elementary school site has soccer posts, a kickball diamond, and plenty of grass for frisbee or catch.

This site is hosting a City of Calgary Summer Park Pilot project for 2024. This pilot includes mini putt, ping pong, gaga ball and more! Picnic tables with umbrellas, adirondack chairs, and log benches provide lots of seating for when you aren't playing games.

Trico Greenspace & Park

This park boasts a large grass play area and a newly built playground (2022) with slides, climbing apparatuses, monkey bars, swings, and more!

Singh Hari Park

717 80 Ave SW

Lots of trees keep Singh Hari Park shady and cool even on the hottest summer days. Picnic areas and benches make this an ideal park to stop and spend some time. The gravel surfaced playground is complete with slides, climbing apparatuses, and a swing set.

Kingsland Dry Pond

505 78 Ave SW

This space is a Kingsland community hallmark. South of the Kingsland Community Hall, the dry pond features a recreational baseball diamond and soccer fields that can be reserved for organized games through the City of Calgary, a walking/cycling track, outdoor fitness equipment, and a basketball court (located inside of the ice rink on the East side of the Kingsland Community Hall). In the winter, the dry pond is home to a City of Calgary tobogganing hill.

Kingsland Off-Leash Area

8019 Macleod Trail SW

The off-leash area runs parallel to, but separate from, the dry pond and the C-Train tracks below Macleod Trail. This off-leash area is fenced on two sides (East and West), and is open to the North and South.

*A petition to fully fence the off-leash area was circulated by the Kingsland Community Association and submitted to our Ward 11 Councilor in 2021 and temporary fencing was installed at the South end of the off-leash area to assess the impact to foot traffic through the space. 584 signatures in favour of fencing the space were collected. We will post updates as they become available.

Outdoor Sports & Ice Rinks

The Kingsland Community Association hires an ice rinks contractor each year who leads a group of community volunteers in flooding and maintaining our two outdoor ice rinks. The smaller of the two rinks is located on the West side of the Kingsland Community Hall. The larger rink is located on the East side of the Community Hall and is fitted with hockey nets and/or basketball nets depending on the season.

The larger rink is available for private bookings year-round.

Little Libraries

To support community literacy, five little libraries have been installed throughout our community. Anyone can borrow books from the little libraries and everyone is welcome to share books to the little libraries as they are able.

Little Library Locations:

  1. Loomis Park

  2. 7th Street Park

  3. Corner of 75th Ave SW and 5th St SW

  4. Singh Hari Park

  5. Kingsland Dry Pond (Coming Soon)
The Heritage Planning Idea Station will be converted to a little library when the community engagement phase of this City of Calgary project is complete.
